Exploring Sustainability Messages in Food Environments in Valencia

On Thursday, 24 July 2025, a focus group was held in Valencia, organised by the University of Valencia. The session brought together five participants to engage in a dynamic and participatory dialogue around sustainability-related messages in food.

During the session, participants examined a series of visual materials conveying messages on environmental, social, economic, and health sustainability in food. They shared personal reflections, emotions, and interpretations, contributing to a deeper understanding of how citizens perceive and respond to such cues in their everyday food environments.

This activity focuses on identifying and analysing the types of sustainability messages found in physical food environments, such as supermarkets, restaurants, and educational settings and how they are perceived and evaluated by individuals.

CUES aims to foster a Triple Change in the food system—cultural, industrial, and policy-related—by developing innovative ways to present and communicate sustainability information that empowers consumers to make more informed and sustainable food choices.

We thank all participants for their valuable contributions and the research team for their ongoing commitment to making sustainable food systems more accessible, transparent, and engaging!
