Sustainable Food Takes the Field: CUES at Ilves’ Match in Tampere

On 31 August, CUES will be present at Tammelan Stadion in Tampere, Finland, during the match between Tampere Ilves and HJK Helsinki, kicking off at 19:00. As part of Ilves’ participation in the CUES project, the match will provide an opportunity to bring sustainable food consumption into the football environment and engage fans directly in a lively, social setting.

During the match event, new food options will be introduced to fans, including berries and other local products presented in a market-style setting. Through activities like these, CUES is exploring the potential of football stadiums as real-world environments for making healthy, sustainable and locally produced food more visible, attractive and accessible.

The activities in Tampere form part of a wider CUES collaboration with Real Betis in Spain and Sheffield United in the UK, with each club exploring approaches adapted to its own stadium and community context. By bringing sustainable food choices directly into the matchday experience, CUES aims to explore how sports environments can contribute to more sustainable food consumption while engaging people in an everyday and highly social setting.
