Challenge

Communicating transparent and credible information by large manufacturing/food producers to gain consumers’ trust.

Intervention

Integrating technological innovations like QR-code to increase food traceability and transparency in the value chain of multiple food manufacturers (TCA is a consortium of 31 food manufacturing companies). Equipping end-consumers with detailed information about the products will allow them to make informed decisions about sustainable consumption, ultimately leading to sustainable value chain transformation. Organisational innovation interventions include not-for-profit activities and social enterprising (for-profit).

Expected Outcome

Increase in sustainable food consumption.

Expected Impact

Environmental: Reduction in energy consumption of packaging part of the supply chain, GHG emissions reduction through increasing sustainable packaging.

Social: Food safety and security, reducing poverty, increasing societal equality and equity.

Economic: Efficient use of material, energy-efficient production, dematerialization of products and packaging, multi-functionality of materials.
