On March 11-12, 2025, the project’s consortium—comprising leading researchers, policymakers, and value chain partners—gathered online to discuss the progress made so far and the next steps toward a more sustainable food consuming.

The meeting reinforced CUES’ mission to empower consumers with the knowledge and tools to make sustainable food choices. A key focus was understanding what influences people’s eating habits and how the right messages, policies, and food industry practices can encourage change. Researchers shared insights from recent studies on consumer behaviour, highlighting both challenges and opportunities in shifting toward a more sustainable eating.

Partners working on real-world intervention cases across Europe shared updates on innovative approaches being tested—from improved labeling strategies to educational campaigns and collaborations with food retailers.

It was also discussed how policy recommendations emerging from CUES research can effectively be communicated to decision-makers at both national and EU levels, ensuring that sustainability is integrated into food system governance.

Beyond research and impact strategies, the consortium also addressed management and coordination aspects of the project, ensuring that project findings reach a broad audience, including engagement with media, stakeholders, and consumers.

As CUES moves forward, the project will continue developing practical tools and resources to support consumers and businesses in making informed, sustainable choices. With strong collaboration across research, industry, and policy sectors, the consortium is on track to create a lasting impact on the future of food in Europe.
